Free printablePrintable chore chart with pictures for kids
Choose a picture for each chore, add your child's name and print one page. Icons let a child who cannot read yet check off their own jobs, Monday to Sunday. Free, no sign-up, nothing saved. The American Academy of Pediatrics (HealthyChildren.org) says a visible chart helps give each child a sense of accomplishment.
Choose a chore for each row, or leave a row empty. In the print dialog choose Letter, Landscape, and turn off headers and footers.

Why use pictures on a chore chart?
A child who cannot read yet can still follow a picture. The American Academy of Pediatrics (HealthyChildren.org) says a chart or checklist works as a visual reminder that shows each child what is expected, and gives them a sense of accomplishment as they finish each task. For a three-to-six-year-old, an icon is that reminder. They can check it themselves and walk you through it.
How do I start a picture chore chart?
- Pick three to five chores. The AAP advises introducing one new task at a time because a long list can overwhelm a child. Start with the first two or three rows and add one when the first are routine.
- Walk through each picture together. Say the word as you point to the icon. “Bed. We pull up the blanket.”
- Hang it at their height, next to where the job happens: the bathroom mirror for teeth, their bedroom door for the bed.
- Check it with them each evening. Praise the effort, not the outcome, and do not expect perfection.
- Add a star or small reward at the end of the week. A reward chart can sit alongside this one.
Which chores suit a young child?
Jobs with one step and a visible finish: bed, toys, hamper, pet bowl, table. See chores for 5-year-olds for how to teach each, and chores by age for older children. When your child is reading, switch to the weekly chore chart and its editable chore names.
Common questions

What age is a picture chore chart for?
Mainly ages 3 to 6, before a child reads easily. Many older children still like the icons.
How many pictures should be on the chart?
Three to five for most young children. The AAP advises adding one new task at a time, because a long list can be overwhelming.
Can I change the chores?
Yes. Each row has a menu of 16 chores with pictures. For jobs that are not in the menu, use the weekly chore chart and type your own.
